After finishing a rewarding career in finance and accounting, it was time for award-winning author Rosalie Redd to put away the spreadsheets and take out the word processor. She pens paranormal, science fiction, and fantasy romance in her office cave located in Oregon, where rain is just another excuse to keep writing.
Interview with Rosalie Redd
What is your all-time favorite book by another author?
I’m going to go with my all-time favorite series. Hands down that would have to be J.R. Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood. She does an outstanding job of bringing you into the world of vampires, making you laugh and cry, and developing characters that you can root for and love!
What is the one thing you can’t live without while you’re writing?
When I sit down to write, I must have The Emotion Thesaurus on the table next to me. That book has been invaluable to me as a writer. The only other items I can’t live without are my laptop and a good cup of herbal tea.
What would you tell your past-self about becoming a writer?
Don’t expect too much from yourself. Becoming a successful author takes time, patience, and a never-give-up attitude. Keep moving forward!
What are the craziest things you’ve searched for on Google while researching a book?
French swear words, medieval weapons, and scary places in Chicago.
Do you prefer ebooks or paperback?
Both! I read books on my phone, but I love the scent of fresh-inked paper, the slight echo of a page turned, and the weight of a book in my hands.
