Elaine Barris is the author of steamy paranormal romances. When she’s not working on her latest masterpiece, she sits in an office, working away, while sneaking thoughts about plotlines, or she hangs out with her husband of over 20 years.

And she’s always spoiling her fur baby rotten!

Interview with Elaine Barris

What is your all-time favorite book by another author?

I’m not sure about a favorite book, but my favorite series of all time is The Fever Series by Karen Moning. I think I’ve read it at least 10 times. If you haven’t had a chance to check it out, make some time to do it!

What book of YOURS is your favorite?

I love Zane. He’s so much fun to write. He has no filter, says and does what he pleases, and loves his wife, London, with his entire soul. There’s currently four books out in that series, and I will be writing a fifth. Oh, who am I kidding… I’ll write him as long as he’s talking. lol

What would you tell your past-self about becoming a writer?

Stop stressing out so much. Take time to enjoy life. Slowing down isn’t stopping. You’re going to drive yourself crazy if you keep this pace.

What is the most overused word in your rough drafts?

Probably “that”. I think I have an addiction to THAT word. lol… My editor is constantly zapping them out of my manuscripts.

What is the craziest thing you’ve search for on Google while researching a book?

I can tell you anything you want to know about the protective gear horse’s wore into battle in the Middle Ages. That took a while to get right, but I did it!

Did you always want to be a writer?

I was always an avid reader, and often mused about writing. I was always interested in it. Then, one day, I guess something kinda broke free inside of me, and this guy, Julian, started talking to me and telling me what was going on with him, and the woman he was in love with, Kate. And so, my Master For Tonight duet was born. I have no plans of letting my writing journey end anytime soon.
